On the day of the scheduled operation, please do not eat or drink anything in the morning; only the drugs prescribed by the anaesthetist may be taken with a sip of water.

Before you are wheeled to the operating theatre, the nursing staff will dress you in a special surgical gown.

The precise time of your operation often cannot be accurately predicted as there is usually a series of operations that are scheduled to be carried out in  an operating theatre each day.
Your ward doctor will, however, be able to give you an approximate time.

Once surgery has been completed, you will be placed in our recovery room for a few hours and will then be taken back to your room. (Exception: major operations that require a stay in the intensive care ward)

Visits are normally allowed again in the afternoon.
