Emergencies in the Clinics for Trauma Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery, as well as general, abdominal and chest surgery are handled in the Surgical Emergency Centre 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Emergencies in the Clinics for Vascular Surgery and Plastic Surgery, Hand and Reconstructive Surgery also receive specialist treatment in the Surgical Emergency Centre outside regular working hours and on Sundays and public holidays.
Diagnostic and therapeutic facilities are available for patients in the Surgical Emergency Centre and two sonography workstations can be used 24 hours a day. Wound treatments and smaller operations can be performed in an intervention room.
A shock room fitted with modern equipment is constantly available for treatment of severely injured patients.
Planning of the further diagnostics and treatment for all patients in the Clinic for Trauma Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery is carried out by the Surgical Emergency Centre. From here, patients are transferred to other specialist departments within the hospital as and when necessary. Appointments for surgery and inpatient admissions are scheduled during consultations.
