Radioiodine therapy is very expensive. It is a bloodless alternative to surgery for hyperthyroidism and benign thyroid disorders and it can be used to supplement operations and drug treatments for malignant diseases.
The patient has the benefit of close cooperation between the Surgical, Medical Endocrinology and Oncology Departments and general practitioners, who also care for their patients during the inpatient stay.
Radiation protection must be observed. As a result, patients may not leave the ward during their three to seven-day stay and cannot receive any visitors.
With parquet flooring, oak furniture, comfortable beds, flat-screen televisions, hi-fi equipment and an internet connection, the patients’ rooms in this ward offer an excellent standard of comfort.
Four single rooms are available with the facilities specified above.
The radioiodine ward can be reached via ward 2 A.
During their stay, patients are cared for by privately practising colleagues from the Nuclear Medicine Department and internists from the Clinic for Haematology and Oncology.
