The ProstataKarzinomZentrum (Prostatic Carcinoma Centre (PKZ)) is a network that unites all of the experts from different specialist medical groups that are required for the treatment of prostate cancer. This model allows optimum communication among the specialist disciplines as well as optimum treatment of the patient from diagnosis through to treatment and right through to the aftercare process. As well as making all modern forms of treatment for prostate cancer available to the PKZ patient, the network also allows him to receive comprehensive advance counselling from relevant professional experts with regard to his different therapeutic options.
An expert committee of the German Cancer Society has certified our network following detailed examination.
This certification by the scientific association is based on an earlier certification of the entire Clinic for Urology and the Radiotherapy Practice for the treatment of prostatic cancer in line with DIN EN ISO 9001; 2000 by the technical inspection association TÜV SÜD.
This certification also recognised the provision of high-quality medical treatment.
The main service providers of the centre are the Clinic for Urology and Paediatric Urology of the St.-Antonius-Hospital, under the leadership of Prof. Dr Joachim Steffens, and the Radiotherapy Department of the Rhineland Radiological Network (RNR- MVZ GmbH), under the leadership of Dr med. Uwe Maurer. All available resources of the St.-Antonius-Hospital and the Radiological Professional Practice Association RNR (radiotherapy, nuclear medicine and radiology) have been incorporated into the treatment programmes of our modern and forward-looking hospital and are used for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of prostatic carcinoma. The PKZ works in cooperation with regional urological practices, a psycho-oncology practice and a pathology institute.
