Once a week (on Wednesdays) a "Tumour Conference" is held at the St.-Antonius-Hospital and is attended by a team of medical experts from different specialist departments. The findings of each patient are presented and jointly discussed and an individual decision on treatment is made during this forum. These individual decisions are necessary because each form of breast cancer has its own characteristics and requires customised treatment.
Physicians from the following disciplines regularly participate in the Tumour Conference
Other departmental representatives may also be included in the briefings as required.
Following the Tumour Conference, each patient is informed about her findings in a personal consultation and is told about the treatment recommendations of the Tumour Conference.
This gathering and regular exchange of information among specialists from the various disciplines at the Tumour Conference has the major advantage for you as a patient that you will receive an individually tailored treatment programme based on the latest findings of medical science.
There are also regular further training events that take place within the framework of the Tumour Conference.
Referring physicians also have the opportunity to take part in the Tumour Conference.
After presentation of her case in the Tumour Conference and treatment in the EBZ, each patient receives a patient's folder containing all of the important findings and results related to her treatment. This personalised medical file enable any treating physician to have all of the details of the disease and its evolution immediately to hand. This helps to avoid any unnecessary duplicate examinations and their associated costs, not to mention additional burdens on the patient.
